Bringing Our Community Together
Volunteers help us get the job done!
We're always building, but there are times when we welcome the community to participate in our construction and/or repair work on one of our work sites.
That means you have the opportunity to build in your community. We also welcome volunteers from all over the country to help us build here in Eastern Kentucky. The help we receive from people like you provides new homes, improved homes, and healthier communities. And what's more - these activities encourage family stability, financial security, stronger towns, more economic development, and a future filled with hope and possibilities!

You don't need any experience! Our professional construction crews will be there to guide you every step of the way. You'll learn new skills, make new friends, find out more about the affordable housing issues in our area, and you might even get to meet the future homeowner!
With HDA, you'll be adding an extraordinary experience to your life, and you'll be changing the lives of others and the mountain community in which you serve. Grab your friends, coworkers, church family, cousins, and whoever else you wish and join us as a volunteer (individual or group) in one of these special events!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all events are tentative. Updates will be posted as they become available.
REPAIR AFFAIR
This one-day event brings together dozens of volunteers that work together with our carpenter crews to deliver home-preserving (and often life-improving) repairs to up to 10 low-income families! We always start early with breakfast at 8 a.m. and work wraps up by 4:30 p.m. What an extraordinary, inspiring way to spend a Saturday! We'll have more details in the this summer. Tentative date: Aug. 22, 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all events are tentative. Updates will be posted as they become available.
COMMUNITY HOUSE RAISING
From footers to finish, we'll build a new home in six weeks or less! Volunteers are welcome to participate this October (2020 - Dates TBD). Again, no experience is necessary, but you must sign up. We'll have additional information about times, work site, and more soon!
SPECIAL EVENTS
We're always looking for ways to help our community and connect with the people in it. That's why we host or co-host certain special events during the year. We encourage you to join us at these events, get to know community members and local leaders, and be a part of the good work being done in the region. As a person dedicated to improving life in the mountains, we truly hope to see you there!
