What We Can Do for You
Your forever home is waiting for you.
We've served Eastern Kentucky families for over 25 years. As a nonprofit affordable housing provider, we've built nearly 300 new homes, made 700 home repairs and renovations, and constructed 35 affordable rental homes for low-income mountain people. Our work is made possible by the generosity of funders, donors, supporters, and volunteers.
In the hills of southeastern Kentucky, we're raised to look out for and take care of each other. Our programs and services are provided not as a hand out, but as a hand up to hard-working mountain people determined to give themselves and their families a better life.
Where We Serve
HDA's programs and services are available to individuals and families living in Breathitt, Knott, Leslie, and Perry counties in Eastern Kentucky. Occasionally, funding is available for us to provide services in Floyd County.
What We Do
Our programs and services primarily serve low-income people in Eastern Kentucky. Recently, we've also begun a pilot program to offer "open market" home repairs to middle-income folks who fall just above the guidelines for our "income-based" programs. Additionally, the homes built by our Hope Building trainees are sold on the open market.

Volunteer Program
Would you like to take a more active hand in helping HDA do its work? Are you interested in learning or testing your construction skills on one of our work sites? Whether you're helping your neighbors in Eastern Kentucky or visiting from outside Appalachia to serve others, we welcome you to work alongside our construction crews as we make life a lot brighter for our families and communities. With us, the difference you'll make can be seen and felt for generations.
