A Home of Our Own:

10 Years
1,000 Families!

Help Eastern Kentucky Families Get the Homes They Need!

With the threat of COVID-19 forcing families to remain at home, we know from experience that low-income families will be the hardest hit. How can you stay "healthy at home" when your home is unhealthy, overcrowded, or unsafe? What if you have no home at all? What if a family was struggling to pay the rent or the mortgage before the pandemic, and then, when things reopen, work is scarce or non-existent but the bills must still be paid? The families we serve are the most likely to lose their homes and with that, the hope of a better life. Now more than ever, your support can help us continue to be there for Eastern Kentucky families through this crisis and after.

“We need to invest in healthy, affordable housing for all Kentuckians. Opportunities are shaped by an individual’s housing, neighborhood, and environment." - Jim King, President and CEO of Fahe

How We use
your donation

In addition to providing affordable new homes, home repairs, new rental units, and energy-efficient retrofits, your gift helps beyond the home by supporting low-income families and individuals with the credit and homeownership counseling they need to become economically independent and successfully manage their homes.

Every dollar we spend goes toward providing housing help to families in the four Eastern Kentucky counties we serve - Breathitt, Knott, Leslie, and Perry, which are all listed as persistent poverty areas and are some of the poorest in the country.

What Your Money Achieves

Your generosity pays for the "A Home of Our Own" Campaign, which ensures that each year over the next 10 years, 100 of the most vulnerable families in our rural, Eastern Kentucky communities have a safe, high quality, affordable home. It provides newly constructed homes, home-improving repairs, new HDA-built rental units, and energy-saving retrofits for the families we serve – 20% of which live on less than $25,000 a year. And it provides counseling and lending services, which educate those striving to improve their lives and help them stay in their homes.

It will also help fund our Hope Building training program, which provides paid, on-the-job construction training for men and women in substance abuse recovery; our internship and volunteer programs; community revitalization projects, like our affordable housing community in the Allais section of Hazard; and the purchase of tools and materials, which are always a need.

Any gift we receive is used to fund our greatest needs.

The community needs to raise $10,000 by July 24, 2020 to help us bring affordable housing to 100 families this year. Donations can be given by individuals, businesses, churches, or organizations. No matter your gift size, each contribution is deeply appreciated and soundly invested.
